Introduction:

Halestrom Castle is comprised of four above ground levels that contain a total of five floors. Components include four octagonal towers, four interior compartments adjacent to the curtain walls, one large rectangular tower, one medium rectangular tower, four small rectangular staircase towers, a great, main gatehouse, a large, secondary gatehouse, eight sections of curtain wall, ten bailey buildings, a wide, filled moat, an exterior causeway with a small gate, and an interim landing in front of the great gatehouse.

Areas are listed sequentially, and numbered as close as possible in physical proximity by floorplan level.
Unless otherwise stated, all floor, wall and ceiling composition entries of "stone" indicate cut granite block.
G1 (ground level 1, 1st floor): first floor of all components, beginning height 5' above the moat.
G1a (ground level 1, 2nd floor): bailey second floor, beginning height 15'.
G2 (ground level 2): tower and compartment second floors, beginning height 25'.
G3 (ground level 3): curtain wall top, roof of all interior shells, beginning height 45'.
G4 (ground level 4): roof of the octagonal towers, beginning height 55'.
