description: This octagonal area is simply a flat area in the middle of the south moat. Persons coming into the castle's main gate must come across this landing. The area provides no defense against any attack.

designation: Exterior gate.
description: This small gate serves as a check point for the castle's guards to screen visitors. The gate wall is 8' in height, and constructed of cut granite stone. The wooden bridge in front of the gate can be manually pulled in as required.
