Introduction:
Pelgurn Tower is an old fortress that has seen service for a number of generations. Pelgurn is a
good example of a transitional tower that has been rebuilt many times through the years. Given the
architectural differences and obvious signs of reconstruction, it is apparent that Pelgurn was
originally a singular rectangular tower. The tower has withstood many attacks, and has been severely
damaged on more than one occasion. It is likely that most, if not all, of the south wall collapsed
at some point. And it is probable that the two southern tower wings were constructed during the
rebuilding of the tower's south wall.
Pelgurn Tower rises to a height of 66'. It is accessed by a flight of stairs built in the courtyard.
A counterbalanced drawbridge set on a pivot allows the stairs to reach the tower entrance on the
second floor.
The underground floor is constructed beneath the original tower. It contains a crypt, which is
presently sealed from the remainder of the tower. The tower's current inhabitants may or may
not be aware of the crypt's existence. The crypt has sustained some structural damage, but is
still serviceable. The newer tower wings do not have any chambers underground, and their foundation
construction is noticeably different from the original tower.
