description: This small room houses the massive winch that raises the portcullis. A single arrow loop window overlooks the tower entrance stairs.

location: G3 south chamber.
designation: Kitchen.
description: This large room holds two great hearths and two baking ovens. The hearths and ovens all vent out shafts through the outer wall. Two stone staircases access the kitchen: Staircase B in the southeast corner spirals ccw down to G2, and staircase E in the center of the south wall spirals cw up to G4. Both staircases have a narrow window at this level that provides marginal illumination. In the southwest corner is a small latrine room.
