    Description:

    The orichalcum bullet is essentially a quasi-weapon focus produced as the result of a special enchanting process performed on raw orichalcum. Orichalcum is an alloy that exists only though the presence of magic, and can therefore be assumed to be magical, and have an activatable astral presence, much like a focus**. Orichalcum is itself a vital component in all weapon foci, so there is some consistent basis for this use of it.

    Like raw orichalcum, the bullets also have a possible astral presence and they can hit purely astral targets such as projecting mages, making an adept with astral perception tactically very useful. Because they do not require karma to bond, the firer still uses Willpower dice to hit and affect their target, rather than Firearms dice. A side effect of the enchantment process is that the bullets themselves become active in the combat phase that they are fired, drawing on the aura and willpower of the firer to cause the damage to the target. This allows an astral mage with delayed actions to pour a spell through the bullet into the firer like it was a spell lock (Rating 1). The reliance on the Willpower of the firer makes orichalcum bullets useless in remotely fired weapons such as drones.

    Manufacture:

    The manufacture of orichalcum bullets requires a special enchanting process performed on single units of orichalcum at a time. The use of orichalcum in bullets is by no means widespread or simply aschieved, and the players should make an enchanting test (8) with a base time of one month to arrive at the correct theory and practice without outside assistance. This is one item that the GM is advised to inform the players specifically of before they are allowed to make them.

    The process requires a unit of orichalcum, one radical (magical) unit of either nickel or silver for alloying, and an Enchanting Shop. The process has a base time of one week. The Target of the test is the number of bullets the enchanter desires to make from the unit, and the test is made on the average of the manufacturer's Enchanting and Firearms B/R skills.

    Notes:

    ++
    The individual GM may wish to restrict these bullets to pistols and SMG's, in particular excluding sniper rifles. Shotguns using shot rounds would require more material per bullet and may raise the TN for manufacture.
    **
    A House Rule in force; Orichalcum would also make an ideal material for wards and glyphs for anchoring spells.

    Martin Gotthard came up with these ingenious devices. Don't blame me! :-)
