BLACK POWDER WEAPONS

NOTE ON BLACK POWDER WEAPONS:

   No two are the same.  The craftsman who creates these weapons do
so with skill and pride.  Each is handcrafted, and the parts are
unique.  Parts are not interchangeable.  Owners of these weapons
"personalize" them, many are strikingly handsome.  Carved wood,
engraved metal, inlays, feathers and beadwork are common.

   A typical load for any of the weapons consists of lead balls,
patches, powder horn, measures, ball starters, a razor sharp knife. 
A typical load weight is 2.50 kg.

   The effects of the balls are not so much related to penetration
as they are to shook.  On impact, the ball does not pierce a target
so much as it smashes its way in.
