Waaay back in the day, when Kadarsha was getting Searing Flame (10th Imperial Heavy Infantry) going, mostly by recruiting amongst Mirusiya's friends in Fasiltum, Phil mentioned that the Vriddi were the descendants of the Ebbridda of Malchairan, and Very Important Dragon Lords. (I think it's mentioned in 'Deeds', but I'd have to look it up.) The Vriddi have left cousins all over the place, due to their very turbulent relationship with the Tlakotani; Deq Dimani of Vridu is one such.

I see. So just to clarify if, for example, you were adventuring some place where there were absolutely no flammable materials (branches, scrub, sticks, grass, etc) and your magic was depleted or somehow suppressed would it be sufficient to, say, pour oil on the deceased and light it as a gesture of faith even if the remains were not completely consumed by the fire? Would this satisfy the dogmatic/theological requirements? Is any fire better than no fire?

    Shemek
Yes, to all of the above; it's the thought / piety that counts.

With which temple(s), other than Chiteng's, does Vimuhla's clergy have a good/close working relationship/alliance? I know that politically they have many of the same goals as Karakan's Temple does, but are there any others that they closely work with (perhaps secretly)?

    Shemek
Karakan, Chagarra; then Hru'u, Ksarul, and Dlamelish, then the Stability side of the thing, and then finally Sarku, Durritlamish. Difference in viewpoints, mostly.

Through your tone, I can sense the concern of the players, Lord Shemek!

And if I may ask, Uncle and Glorious General, how likely are priests of Karakan and Vimuhla to have a "honoured rivals" relationship, as "fellow warriors who have the wrong views on stability and change"?
    Thank you!

Yes, very much so. Very similar beliefs, as you point out.

I can see why you didn't have it, but then you also had your Imperialism in common, and I was talking about a situation where they wouldn't have such common ground.
Understood; mostly, we as a party all made sure that everybody got something to keep their superiors happy. Worked for us; drove Phil crazy.

I don't think Phil expected players who genuinely wanted to be loyal soldiers and not try to have a scam going on the side.

Yeah, Uncle, but I still had to ask. After all, sometimes the people we hate most are those that are like us, but different in one or few crucial details!

Smart choice, though most GMs today would expect something similar.

Surprised me the first time it happened, too. Then I adapted.
After all, even if you don't have your own scam, your soldiering might run afoul of other people's scams and, as a smart character says, "mayhem is sure to ensue"!

Like the time we "borrowed" a crate of crossbow bolts being shipped to Qutmu's legion. popped the lid open, and a Mrur sat up and said "Hello, sailor!"

You know, I think you've hit on something here. Considering how the 'soldiers' in the other group always had one scam or another going, it does not surprise me that it surprised him.
