A shame they won't let you continue as a goodwill ambassador for Tekumel. I think a "Check out Chirine, he gets it" would help with acquiring new blood.
I've been lucky enough to hook up with what appears to be a fairly sizeable (relatively speaking) DC-Baltimore Tekumel fandom for occasional miniatures gaming at a store in Glen Burnie. A table arrayed with brightly painted Tekumel figures always draws a few onlookers. I'd imagine one of your "productions" might set the hook and reel them in.

This is the crux of the problem, actually. I have been the goodwill ambassador for Tekumel for literally decades, and have been described as 'Mr. Tekumel' by more then a few people. This is the problem; they feel that when I do my thing and run one of my big games, it makes them look bad - to quote them. "Everything you do, you do so well that you make us look bad." These are the people who killed a proposed Tekumel convention here in the Twin Cities in the middle 1990s because - quoting, again - "We were afraid that you'd show up with all your cool miniatures and cool costumes and cool stuff and steal the limelight from us." It came up again at Gary Con, a few years back, when a player in one of their games and in mine told them - again, quoting - "that they really needed to have me running games at conventions to promote Tekumel, as I run games that are so much better then what they do!" As you might imagine, this did not go over well with them, and and led to a lot of trouble later on.
They have made it very clear that I am not welcome in their Tekumel; my wife says it's because I have a personality and they don't. (I think she's biased, myself.) So, I stay home, write and paint, and generally enjoy life. I do get out, every now and then, to run games and these - like yours - seem to go over well.

I had Bear's legion out on the workbench to replace some parts, so I got some photos - the second shows himself and the command cohort, but out of focus. The first shot is of our little army that we took east from Hekellu to Sirsum, fighting the battle of Anch'ke along the way; 16 cohorts of mediums, two cohorts of heavies, one over-strength cohort of Vriddi clan guards.

These are a mix of Warlord and Foundry EIR figures. About all I did was paint 'em up the way Phil said to.
I like that color scheme.

Since you showed more of your fabulous minis, got a mini question for you: What do you use for ru'un?
Also, Gronan mentioned that Arneson & the Minneapolis crew always used minis. I folded Professor Barker in with that practice but is that the case? I easily picturing all the early games with you, Gronan, and the gang but also the other night, being that way but have a hard time seeing his later players (like the gang that became the Foundation) playing that way, for some reason.
Sometimes Phil did, sometimes not.
Nice legion, Chirine? How is ol' Bear, anyway? Hope he's doing well.
Just back from GenCon. Sweet Karakan's butthole, I'm exhausted. It may be a day or two before I can post more than a word or three.
I don't care if you respect me, just buy my fucking book.

The rules can't cure stupid, and the rules can't cure asshole.
Thank you! I had fun doing these, and it was nice to have the lads and lasses in their 'campaign' rig to have in the game. These are some of the last 'big unit' conversions I did, as the wonderful Howard Fielding seems to come up with just about any figures for Tekumel as needed. These days, I do conversions in small numbers for individual PCs and NPCs.
The opposition for Anch'ke, the Young Master's tribal horde, is all from the Celtos range by Kevin White. They look the part, as do their Sidhe - who look like Craig Smiths original concept drawings for the Salarvyani.

Thank you - I thought that it was one of Phil's better ones. He handed his drawing down the table to Bear, who asked him what the color scheme was, and then filled in the black-and-white line drawing there and then at the table. He passed it back to Phil, who loved it, so it was adopted / approved / official.
My troopers are based on Phil's verbal descriptions; I asked him about what they looked like, and got his suggestions. All-Consuming Flame is not an Imperial Legion, as I've noted; we're Engsvanyali, and Phil dropped several bucket loads of heavy handed hints that we're related to the Vriddi and the Legion of the Searing Flame - the Vriddi have left pockets of descendants all over the place, and we may be one of them. My officers address their Vriddi counterparts as 'cousin', so there may be something to it; they address Translucent Emerald as 'brother' or 'sister', as appropriate, as we're very strongly allied with them as our mutual friends and comrades in battle.
