With that being said, I do frequent other Tekumel related forums. I have come across some really great stuff. But sadly the posting is not consistant. Sometimes it is days, weeks, in some cases months before something new comes up. I think the open endedness of the thread here keeps it going. Maybe the other sites could do something similar?

I agree about the inconsistent posting. I am guilty of it myself. It is b/c RW matters press in and drive things from my mind. Also, I like to make sure I have done as much research as I can and that has sometimes stopped me as I go and check, and re-check things. I also like to make sure I include all the accents even though this slows things down considerably.

We should start a new thread where people could post the clans they have designed. (On the Tekumel site forums, of course; in order to support Tekumel). Or perhaps each clan should get its own thread to avoid them being buried in a long thread.

Just a thought. This thread is great but not really focused on just clans. AND this site is not focused on Tekumel. ie. the Tekumel Forums would be better and they are under-utilized IMO.

    Howard,

Unfortunately the Tekumel forums, to put it kindly, are as moribund as Lord Sarku's minions. Years between new threads and a few postings here and there is not what I would call a lively debate. There simply is no real exchange of ideas which makes it useless to me. I truly salute your effort to get that venue re-energised, but Tekumel.com is a shadow of what it used to be. Too bad really.
Also, in light of what Chirine, posted I wouldn't want to be on a platform that has banned him for no apparent reason. Foolish exclusionary practices, which seem to stem from personal insecurities, do not appeal to me in the slightest. That is not the type of environment I'm interested in at all.
I agree with Hrugga's assessment regarding this thread, and it completely mirrors my feelings towards it, and quite frankly this is the only reason that I am even active on this forum. Perhaps we could get something similar going on one of the other Tekumel Groups, but I have a bad feeling that the politics would quickly start to manifest and bugger things up. If, as you say, the bullshit could be kept out I would be totally onboard with a more Tekumel dedicated milieu.

    Mighty Hrugga,

In many ways this thread reminds me of the old Blue Room site. In fact I think that I'm not too far in saying that Questioning Chirine baKal is its successor.

How about I post it to the Tekumel Yahoo group? Is that neutral ground?

I find that exercises like this helps me get into the spirit of things as well as providing some internal consistency, should things come up during play.

It was part 1 of this thread that tipped me off to Hucker's dictionary of Chinese titles. An invaluable source of suitably grandiose job titles for bureaucrats of all stripes!

You're welcome! As I've said, this thread is for all of you, not just for me. It's being driven by your questions, and I'm happy to share what I know and learned from Phil over the years.

I agree with you about the other Tekumel forums (fora?). I have them set up to notify me if there's any traffic, like the recent set of messages on Mu'uglavyani red on the Yahoo group.

I don't know; you'd have to ask there.

In any case I think it is an open forum.

One of these days all the "baggage" (ie. bullshit) surrounding Tekumel, the Foundation, etc is going to get my back up and I'll just walk away.
You are correct; Peter founded the site, and is the webmaster. The domain name is owned personally by Mr. Alberti, and the site is hosted on his servers.

It is indeed an open forum, as I understand it, for everyone but myself. Although Bob does delete posts on the Tekumel Facebook page, I don't know what his criteria are for doing so.

Re the TF connection; Dr. Raymond told me that they want to, quote, "shut down all of the 'external' Tekumel forums and move all of the discussions over to their 'internal' forum so that they can control the conversations." I think that would be a mistake, myself, as well as like herding cats.

Agreed. It's been going on since the late 1980s, and it's just counter-productive for Tekumel in general.

Agreed. I've been asked to be part of my own forum, and like with the various conventions (Gary Con and Gamehole Con come instatly to mind) that I've been asked to appear at to talk about Tekumel and run games at, the hassle from the TF makes it simply unrealistic. I post here because Bren asked me to, and I can - perhaps - stay because of the past history between Dr. Raymond and RPG Pundit re 'consultantgate'.
