Cathedral of Delundar (the Artisan)

Introduction:

It is said that there is little in the world more gaudy than temples of Delundar. This cathedral certainly strives to fulfill expectations. Expensive statues, sculptures, paintings, jewelry, gems, painted plates and all manner of crafts are exhibited here. Guards warily patrol the premises, and thieves are well-advised to heed their warnings. Many thieves aspire to rob a church of the Artisan. Few ever make an attempt, and only the truly skilled - and fortunate - succeed.

This cathedral to Delundar consists of a single building containing two levels and two interior open courtyards, and is located in the religious or commercial district of a large city. Fourteen priests and approximately thirty novices can be found at this cathedral. Though they all have chambers at the cathedral, most of the senior priests have private homes elsewhere in the city.

Area 001

Area 002
designation: Entry foyer.
description: Twin polished brass doors open into this impressively decorated chamber. A crystal chandelier brightly illuminates the room, and the strong aroma of incense wafts from standing censers. A number of statues of all sizes depict Delundar and his favored legendary artisan worshippers. Marble staircases to the right and left, complete with polished brass bannisters, ascend to the balcony overlooking the worship chamber. Straight across from the entrance doors, a large archway opens into the main worship chamber.

Area 003
designation: Main worship chamber.
description: Rows of polished redwood benches line this rectangular room, all facing toward an altar against the north wall. Arcades of tall, lead-paned glass windows line the walls and rise to the beginning of the vaulted ceiling. Censers stand at each row of benches, and small golden candelabras affixed to the walls light this room. The north end of the worship hall contains an upraised dais for the church's choir, a large, ornate altar of marble, silver and gold, small tables, a speaker's podium and chairs for distinguished guests. An upper balcony rests atop the southern third of the room, while the rest of the chamber rises to the full height of the second story's vaulted ceiling.

description: Three velvet upholstered couches are arrayed in the center of this room. Two statues of Delundar and smaller statues of Delundar's artisans are placed throughout the room. Tapestries and shields adorn the walls, and a fireplace fills most of the north wall.

description: This is the eastern courtyard. Bushes grow in neatly maintained rows around the building foundation, and a large fountain with a statue of the Artisan fills the center of the courtyard.
